The Club of Travellers

This club was established in 1994. It focuses on organizing activities in our country (all the year long) and summer expeditions to other countries. The most successful ones are: autumn hiking in the Šumava, winter camping in tents, canoeing and rafting along the rivers of South Bohemia and last but not least, Iron Student – a week trip with rafting, canoeing, hiking and cycling in different regions of our country.

Our travellers have hiked in the mountain ranges abroad (Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ireland, Spain, Albania, Montenegro, Poland, Croatia, Corsica, Norway, Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria).

Some of these activities have become traditional and students from other schools take part in them as well.

Recently, humanitarian and culture activities have been organized: “Help for Sri Lanka”, “Help for the Museum of Ivan Olbracht in Kolocava”(Ukraine), “Equipment for school in Banat (Romania), “Meeting with war veterans in St. Petersburg”, “Meeting with the witnesses of holocaust in Izrael”, “Help with restoration of legionary cemetery in Ural”, “Singing for compatriot communities abroad”. At present, a project on displacement of German people from border regions is being prepared.

We have taken part in meeting young people in Israel, Ireland, South African Republic, Karelia (Russia), Mongolia. Expeditions to Ethiopia, Morocco and Israel are being prepared.

The club also provides help for the students who take part in international workshops (in Ireland, Italy, England, Turkey, Ukraine, Macedonia, Israel).

The club is the member of following organizations: the Association of Secondary School Clubs (www.askcr.cz) and Edie (www.edie.cz). The club leader Mgr. Vladimír Kojan is the member of International Commission in the Czech Board of Children and Youth.
